Well, as of 2010, that is all about to change. Government legislation amendments to the Climate Change act, mean companies will have to record and submit their carbon emissions records. The new carbon trading scheme will be in place in less than 18 months.

The government will be issuing guidance in 2009 on the way companies report their greenhouse gasses. They will also expect companies to report on their carbon emissions reduction initiatives; all of the reporting will be mandatory.
